Your business is required to file an initial Statement of Information within 90 days of the formation of the entity. Afterward, the filing schedule depends on the type of business structure you have and when your business was first registered.
- Corporations – Annually
- Registered Foreign Corporations – Annually
- Agricultural Cooperatives – Annually
- Nonprofits – Biennially (every 2 years)
- LLCs – Biennially (every 2 years)
The California Secretary of State gives you a six-month filing window, which includes the entire month in which you originally registered your business and the preceding 5 months.
For example, let’s say you first registered your corporation on November 15, 2022. Since corporations are required to file every year, your next Statement of Information will be due by November 2023, and you can file anytime between June 1 and November 30.
